I would say yes in the aspect that they are both derived from the ritualistic psyche of the human race. For myself in this science fiction comic, as well as Logan’s Run–It’s all about customs, culture and the manipulation used by those in power to bend the will of the masses to serve their political, financial and religious desires.
Ascension is actually based on the concept and legend of a form of free energy called Vril. Ascension is the act of purification of the physical when humans are absorbed by the Vril, which the ConGenement states, wil lead to reincarnation.
ConGenement is comprised of the words – CONTROLLED – GENETIC – MANAGEMENT
Simultaneously when two people are absorbed by the Vril, they are reborn, live in the same room, as the next numeric and physical reincarnation of themselves, born from a test tube and impregnated into doner mothers.
